影片简介：
　　早在2010年的12月，安德森就有意改编托马斯·品钦的《性本恶》，不过由于另一部新片《大师》的资金到位较早，《性本恶》暂时被搁置了起来。《性本恶》有一个类似钱德勒侦探小说的外壳，洛杉矶私家侦探多克与前女友莎斯塔不期而遇，并从她那听说了一个无从佐证的故事，一桩离奇绑架案，受害者——她现在的情人——是一个“腰缠亿贯”的房地产商。多克明知道“爱情”是个含混不清、随时会惹出一串麻烦的词儿，还是鬼使神差地撞进了莎斯塔的故事，而且愈卷愈深，冲浪手、皮条客、贩毒者、摇滚乐手、犯了命案的高利贷者，各色人等，若隐若现……
花絮：
·导演安德森介绍，华金·菲尼克斯与瑞茜·威瑟斯彭相处非常融洽，两人似乎有一套别人插不进入的语言，安德森不得不总是提醒他们“开拍了，别聊天了！”二人此前曾合作过影片《与歌同行》。
·小罗伯特·唐尼原定出演主角，但后来被菲尼克斯替换。这是安德森继《大师》之后再度与菲尼克斯合作。后来，唐尼曾表示，他退出这部影片是由于安德森认为他年纪过大，而不是由于档期的原因。
·影片是美国后现代小说大家托马斯·品钦的作品第一次被搬上大银幕。据说，品钦本人表达了对安德森的改编剧本的首肯。
·瑞茜·威瑟斯彭的所有戏份在三天内拍摄完毕。导演与菲尼克斯都希望改动剧本，把她的角色戏份增多一些。然而，威瑟斯彭劝阻了他们。
·影片由华纳兄弟公司发行，这是托马斯自从2002年《疯狂愚蠢的爱》之后的第一部由主流大制片厂发行的影片。
·查理兹·塞隆曾是扮演片中Shasta一角的人选。这个角色后来由凯瑟琳·沃特斯顿出演。
·据乔什·布洛林爆料，小说原著作者托马斯·品钦在片中客串了一个角色。
·小说原著标题“inherent vice”是借用自海事保险上的术语，指货物本身所固有的容易引起损环的特性，即“固有缺陷”。因为货物内在缺陷造成的损失，除非双方订有特别约定，否则保险人不予负责。
